Step-by-Step Instructions for Using Novacel Dry Gummed Label Paper
Gummed paper is versatile and cost-effective for creating attractive labels. It has a gum adhesive backing that needs water to activate. This paper can have either dry gum adhesive or dextrine gum adhesive. The dextrine gum is shinier and stronger. Once activated, the adhesive sticks well to surfaces like glass, cardboard, wood, metal, and ceramic. You can apply water automatically or semi-automatically with a spray, roller, or brush, or manually with a sponge. Once activated, the adhesive has a good initial tack and dries to a strong final bond.
Step 1: Printing Your Design
First, prepare your design. Create or select a design that fits the label paper.
Next, load the Novacel dry gummed label paper into your printer’s tray. Make sure the printable side is facing the correct direction as per the printer’s instructions.
Then, print your design on the label paper.
Step 2: Cutting the Labels
After printing, cut the labels. Use scissors or a paper cutter to cut out your labels. Make sure the edges are clean.
Step 3: Moistening the Label
Now, get ready to moisten the label. Have a clean sponge or a moistening device ready. It should be damp but not dripping wet.
Lightly and evenly moisten the adhesive side of the label with the sponge. Do not soak the paper. Too much water can damage it. Ensure the adhesive surface is evenly moistened.
You can also use a spray, roller, or brush to moisten the adhesive.
Step 4: Applying the Label
Next, position the moistened label on the surface you want to label (e.g., glass jar, cardboard, wood, metal, ceramic).
Carefully press the label firmly and evenly onto the surface. Smooth out any air bubbles or wrinkles with your fingers or a soft cloth.
Then, let the label dry completely. This ensures strong, permanent adhesion.
Step 5: Removing the Label (If Needed)
If you need to remove the label, moisten it again using a sponge or moistening device.
Finally, gently peel off the label.
Tips for Best Results
Evenly moisten the adhesive to avoid weak spots. Avoid over-wetting. Too much water can make the paper soggy and hard to handle. Let the label dry completely after application for the best adhesion. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before labeling.
By following these steps, you can use Novacel dry gummed label paper effectively. This ensures neat and durable labels every time. Novacel gummed paper is a lower-cost alternative to pressure-sensitive labels. It adheres well to all types of surfaces, making it ideal for many labeling needs.
