How To Do SEO For The Family Printer
How many printers got into the business because they love to write marketing plans? If you gathered 100 together, I bet only one or two would raise their hands. Most family printers run their business, because they want to be printers.
But everyone needs clients, which means everyone needs to think about getting more hits on their websites. There are many ways to get more views, but one of the easiest is by improving your site’s local SEO.
What Is Local SEO?
You probably know this, but I’ll explain anyway. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Search engines use algorithms to gather sites for search results. SEO helps websites craft their page so sites like Google place it higher on the rankings. If your site ranks higher, or even on the first page, it’s more likely that someone will click on it.
Local SEO is a way to optimize your website for getting face-to-face clients. If you want to get a client around Topeka, Kansas, you don’t need to worry about ranking higher on searches in New York.
Easy, Free Ways To Improve Your Local SEO
You can dive as deep as you want into learning about SEO, but I bet you want something you can do right now. Here are a few free things you can do right now to rank higher on search results.
1. Claim Your Google Business Listing
Google gets almost all of the search business, so you have to start there. Google tries to maintain a list of businesses and their locations. If you’ve used Google maps to find something near you, you know how this works. It helps people see where businesses are and how to contact them.

When you claim your business listing, update your location, contact information, website, and anything else you can. Add some photos to show that your business is legit. When a potential client searches, “printers near me,” you want the customer to see your business and have confidence in you.
2. Consistent Contact Information Formatting
Your website should have your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email) on every single page. Yes. Every single page. If a client pops onto your site on a page without information, you might lose a sale. Most business sites keep their full information at the bottom, called a footer, of every page.
Example: We use this format at the bottom of every page
Randolph Next Day Paper
11258 Cornell Park Dr, Ste 600
Cincinnati, OH 45242 USA
You also need to keep the formatting consistent. Use the exact same order and format for every page you have your contact information. No misspellings or wrong numbers.
3. Encourage Reviews And Respond
Google and other search engine listings have review features, and they always prefer good ratings over bad ones. The more positive reviews you have, the higher you’ll rank on searches. Upset clients are more motivated to leave a bad review, so you need to actively court happy clients to leave positive reviews.
Respond to every review, especially negative ones. That shows potential clients (and Google) that you are legit. When you get a negative review, respond with an offer to make things right with the client. Potential customers will see how you manage your customer service. Never, ever respond in anger. It will drive customers away.
4. Call To Action (CTA)
Last, but not least, include a call to action (CTA) on every page. A CTA drives your customers to the right page to buy your services.
